Alex Dennehy is Assistant Principal with responsibility for teaching and learning, with a particular focus on improving the quality of classroom practice across the school. He leads the Lead Practitioner team, driving a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous professional development.
Alex oversees key areas including staff training and professional development, coaching, and the implementation of whole-school approaches to marking, feedback, and homework. He also leads on MER (Monitoring, Evaluation and Review), ensuring that teaching is consistently strong and aligned with the school’s priorities. In addition, Alex is developing the school’s use of AI and digital technology to enhance teaching, learning, and teacher workload.
Prior to this, Alex was Lead Practitioner for Science, and worked at another outstanding local comprehensive school as Head of Chemistry for 7 years.
Alex studied Chemistry at the University of Bristol, graduating with a Masters in Chemistry. He is a qualified Lead Practitioner, completing his accreditation with the Harris Institute of Teaching in 2023.
Outside of school, Alex enjoys travelling and is always planning his next trip to pursue his passion for scuba diving. He also enjoys going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.
