Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Designated Teacher for Mental Health and Wellbeing is Mr Duffy (Assistant Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Harris Academy Sutton is passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of all our students. We recognise that we have a full and active part to play in protecting our students from issues which may arise surrounding mental health and self-harm.
In School:
- Our extensive Personal Development Curriculum teaches students positive ways to deal with and manage difficult situations. It also teaches our students how to keep themselves healthy and safe, both physically and mentally.
- We have a full time on-site counsellor who is available to all students at drop-in sessions every day at Break and Lunch. Students are also able to access regular timetabled appointments. If you our your child would like more information please ask them to speak to the Safeguarding Team.
- We have an allocated Child and Wellbeing Practitioner from CAMHS who delivers bespoke sessions to students. If you are interested in this service please contact your child’s Head of Year or the Safeguarding Team.
- We have Sutton Pastors visit us weekly who do both group and individual sessions.
- We have a support worker from Free2Be who supports students with regards to LGBTQ+ issues.
- We work closely in partnership with parents/carers and students to identify need and to make appropriate referrals as part of our graduated response, ensuring that support is timely, proportionate and responsive to individual needs.
